With the ever growing concern of global warming and human behaviors adverse impact on the environment, Starwood is looking at ways of making an impact in reducing energy and waste.

As much utility is consumed in the "Heart of the House" through many different energy sources, one way to lessen the impact of waste is by adapting to a newly developed system in ware washing.

  • Reduces packaging of detergent by 95%-99.9%
  • Thereby eliminating 114,00 lbs of plastic from landfills enough to make 2.5 million plastic bottles (for all of NAD)
  • Reduces re-wash of rack by a modest 10% therefore reducing water usage by an average of 21,250 gallons per property or 8.5 million gallons throughout NAD = the filling of 435 Olympic swimming pools
  • Reduces electricity by nearly 15.000 kWh per property, or almost 6 million kWh across NAD, saving enough energy to power 550 homes
